Black-Owned Business Spotlight: SimplyFabilous




 I am totally obsessed with supporting black-owned businesses and it has nothing to do with jumping on the Black Lives Matter wave. I am genuinely dedicated to pushing and promoting my people. We work hard and we deserve the recognition and the platform to promote our businesses to those who appreciate them. Today, we are going to do a Black-owned business spotlight, a cosmetics and fashion brand based in Canada. SimplyFabilous! Now, let's learn more about this black-owned business, what do they stand for and how did the business come about? 


SimplyFabilous: The Beginning 

SimplyFabilous was founded by certified skincare expert Fabiola Hinton in 2017. Fabiola is a Haitian-born Canadian who was inspired to start the brand by her sister who is a qualified cosmetologist.

 Upon graduating high school, Fabiola went on to study to become an aesthetician. After creating a business plan for a spa for her assignment, the seed was planted, and the idea for SimplyFabilous was born. 

The vision came when she felt like she wanted to create something that was not only created by a woman of color but also created for women of color, and for anyone who wants to look and feel "Simply Fabilous." 

Fabiola's key mission for the brand is to encourage women to feel comfortable in their own skin and to love themselves wholeheartedly. What a wonderful mission! 

The Evolution of SimplyFabilous 

The brand started out retailing cosmetics, clothing, and accessories from a storefront in Ontario, Canada however, eventually Fabiola decided to focus on online sales instead of a physical store. The website currently stocks makeup products, hair bundles, and fashion accessories. 


We asked Fabiola about her goals for the up and coming year, she stated that her main goal is to continue to expand SimplyFabilous into a loyal and dedicated community of "Fabilous" women. 

Quick Fact: SimplyFabilous' skincare and makeup products are all non-toxic and cruelty-free making them suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
